Families and children are invited to participate in a range of programs especially designed with younger visitors in mind. The Drop-In & CREATE Saturdays offer fun, interactive art making activities for families with children ages 3 and up that will sure to spark one’s creativity! Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Celebrate music of the south as seen in the exhibition Our Living Past: A Platinum Portrait of Music Maker by making your own musical artwork. Create a cool guitar out of paper and 3-D elements inspired by the artist Pablo Picasso.
June 17: A Chair Affair
Design and decorate your own pop-up chair scene. Explore The Art of Seating: Two Hundred Years of American Design exhibition to see chairs that are not only functional, but works of art!
July 15: Fantastic Florals!
Create your own floral masterpiece using pastels, watercolor and markers. Explore our Burchfield Botanicals exhibition.
August 12: Parrot Prints
Experiment with the art of printmaking to create your own feathered print. Don’t miss The Birds of America: Audubon Aquatints from the Kathy and Michael Mouron Collection.
September 23: Colored Glass Creations
Make your own masterpiece using materials that mimic glass. Explore the beautiful glass artwork in our permanent collection American Studio Glass.
In the Museum Academy, art classes are offered weekdays and Saturdays for children ages 3 and up. No prior experience is necessary to enroll and all materials are provided for the children’s classes. High school and adult art classes and workshops are also available.
