DESCRIPTION:Teacher Professional Development Workshop: Paper & Wire Sculptures with Professor Chris Boyd Taylor\nFriday\, April 22\, 2022 | 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. \n \nJoin us for this unique teacher professional development workshop opportunity! Dive into making paper and wire sculptures. Professor Chris Boyd Taylor Teacher Professional Development Workshop will assist teachers in aiding students to develop critical thinking skills and understanding creativity\, communication and collaboration. This workshop will be held on Friday\, April 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Huntsville Museum of Art’s Museum Academy classrooms. There is no fee for this workshop. Space is limited. Register Early! \nTo register\, please email the following information to Kathy Johnson\, Museum Academy Assistant at kjohnson@hsvmuseum.org.\nTeacher Name • Name of School • Contact Phone Number \nA workshop confirmation letter will be sent to you via email upon receipt of your registration. Lunch will be on your own! Area school systems have been notified regarding this teacher professional development workshop. \nThe workshop is presented in conjunction with the VAA: Visual Arts Achievement Program (on view until March 13)\, Congressional Art Competition and Youth Art Month (through April 24) exhibitions. Sponsored by Huntsville Museum of Art\, The Alabama State Council on the Arts\, Alabama Arts Alliance and Huntsville-Madison County Art Education Association. \n \nAbout Chris Boyd Taylor: \nFine arts degrees from The Ohio State University and The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Craft\, scale\, color\, movement\, architecture\, spectatorship\, anthropomorphism\, and interpersonal relationships make up the principle interests in his studio practice. He is currently creating work in direct response to travels he took throughout the Southeast United States documenting venues of spectatorship. Chris has several permanent public art commissions Remolcador en Camino at the Pablo Neruda Plaza\, Montevide Uruguay and The Cardboard Kids at Austin Peay State University\, Clarksville Tennessee. He has exhibited at many venues including the Nashville International Airport\, Montgomery Museum of Fine Art\, ArtFields\, and Huntsville Museum of Art. In 2013\, he was an Emerging Art Fellow at Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens New York. He and his family reside in the foothills of the Appalachians in Northern Alabama where he teaches sculpture at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
