SUMMARY:$5 After 5 with Gabe Larose and Phil Weaver
DESCRIPTION:$5 After 5\nThursdays | 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.\nMembers: Free | Non-Members: $5\nEnjoy $5 admission every Thursday from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Huntsville Museum of Art. Explore the Museum’s latest exhibitions or visit favorites from the Museum collection during this weekly event. Wine service has returned. Guests aged 21+ will be able to purchase a glass of wine from the Church Street Wine Shoppe for $7. Tonight’s menu will highlight SkyFall Vineyards. Is the sky falling? No\, it’s just April showers bringing in May flowers! \nAbout Gabe Larose:\nGabe Larose blends various styles such as 70’s rock\, fingerstyle ballads\, acoustic folk\, and even classical guitar into his latest album “Rule of Thirds”. Influences like The Beatles\, Led Zeppelin\, Kansas\, Neil Young\, Jim Croce\, The Police\, and 90’s Seattle are all apparent on this album\, but intertwined to be recognized on a more subconscious level. His second album “Through the Motions” (2014) can also be found on Spotify. When he is not playing live in the North AL area\, Gabe also works as a guitar instructor. \nAbout Phil Weaver:\nClassical guitarist Phil Weaver has been performing for over 30 years in the United States and abroad. He was the first guitarist to be awarded an individual artist’s fellowship from the Alabama State Council on the Arts\, and he is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at UAH\, where he directs the guitar program. He performed his European debut with solo concerts for the Nonsuch Guitar Society in London and the Old Malthouse Music Society in Sawbridgeworth. In addition to solo work\, he has performed concertos with orchestra and small ensembles including instrumentalists and vocalists. His collaborations with pianist Ingrid von Spakovsky include a CD on ACA Digital that received rave reviews in Fanfare and 20th Century Guitar magazines\, interviews on BBC York and Temple Public Radio\, a tour of England\, a New York City recital debut\, and performances throughout the U.S. Their CD Consonare has been broadcasted on New York City’s NPR affiliate WNYC\, WABE Atlanta\, and WLRH Huntsville.
