Mixed Media – Ages 5-8\nSeptember 19\, 26\, October 10\, 17\, 24\, 31 (6 Tuesdays) | 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.\n$95 Members | $135 Non-Members\nJessica Nunno\nRegister here! \nNow in its 28th year\, the art program introduces different media and techniques (clay\, graphite\, colored pencil\, marker\, and pastel) – into the homeschool curriculum. We’ll take Museum gallery visits to be inspired by different works of art – still life and landscapes as related to exhibitions. Winter Ceramics Session for Homeschooled classes will be offered in January and February 2024. \nSpace is limited to 12 students per class. The Education department will provide structure\, fun\, and friends in a safe\, stimulating environment. Museum gallery visits included for inspiration. All materials are provided for the children’s classes. All New Projects!

DESCRIPTION:New Date\nLecture & Reception with Rania Matar for Rania Matar: SHE\n\nFriday\, September 29 | 6 – 8 p.m.\nMembers: $60 | Non-Members: $100\nRania Matar\, the featured photographer\, will lead the event with a lecture.\nEvent Lecture Topic:\nFrom the Individual to the Collective: The Photography of Rania Matar\nBook Singing: SHE\nBorn and raised in Lebanon\, Rania Matar moved to the United States in 1984. She has dedicated her work to exploring issues of personal and collective identity through photographs of female adolescence and adulthood. Matar works both in the United States and the Middle East in an effort to focus on notions of identity and individuality within the context of the underlying universality of these experiences. \nSHE features 50 large-scale color images of young women in their 20s—the ages of Matar’s own daughters—leaving the cocoon of home and transitioning into womanhood. In earlier projects\, Matar photographed young women in relation to the controlled environment of their bedrooms. Here\, she captures them in the larger arena they find themselves in after leaving home—the global and complicated backdrop that now constitutes their lives in transition.
