DESCRIPTION:Origins and Explanation of Masonic Ritual and Symbols\nPresentation by Michael Feld\nThursday\, June 15 | 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. in the Great Hall\nFree to attend\, but $5 After 5 admission is required to enter the galleries. \nJoin HMA and Michael Feld for this unique opportunity to learn about the origin of Masonic symbols as described in the Masonic Lectures of the Grand Lodge of Alabama Free and Accepted Masons. The history of the origin of the lectures explains why the explanation of the symbols is virtually the same throughout English Freemasonry. A recitation of the non-secret portions of the Entered Apprentice Lecture will be given. This presentation is part of educational programming in conjunction with the Mystery and Benevolence: Masonic and Odd Fellows Folk Art from the American Folk Art Museum exhibition. \nMystery and Benevolence: Masonic and Odd Fellows Folk Art from the American Folk Art Museum was organized by the American Folk Art Museum\, New York\, NY from the Kendra and Allan Daniel Collection and is toured by International Arts & Artists\, Washington\, DC. \n   \nAbout Michael Feld: \nMichael Feld\, Chairman of the Grand Lodge of Alabama Free and Accepted Masons Public Relations and Education Committee\nPast Master of Helion Lodge #1\nPast District Lecturer of Madison County\n33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason\nKnight York Cross of Honor\nGrand Governor of Alabama for the York Rite Sovereign College of North America \nMr. Feld was born in Decatur\, Alabama and grew up in Huntsville\, Alabama. He is a graduate of Lee High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and MBA from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He currently resides in Madison\, Alabama and is married to his wife Jenni with whom he has two daughters. \nHe was initiated at Helion Lodge #1 in November 1998 and raised to the degree of Master Mason in July 1999. He served as Worshipful Master of Helion Lodge in 2009. In 2012\, he was the first Alabama recipient of the General Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons International Ritual Award. In 2014\, he received the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Alabama Fred W. Vaughn Masonic Award for Community Service. He also received the Knights Templar Cross of Honor from the Grand Commandery of Alabama. In 2015\, he received the Cryptic Mason of the Year Award from the General Grand Council of Cryptic Masons International. In 2017\, he received the Companion of the Secret Vault honor. He served on the Ritual Committee for the General Grand Council of Cryptic Masons International. He has published several articles in the Ad Lucem\, the Royal Arch Magazine\, and the Knights Templar magazine.

They perform using all the members of the flute family: piccolo\, flute\, alto flute\, bass flute\, and contra-bass flute. The community group has been together for over 15 years. They are an inclusive\, all-volunteer organization that performs locally for public events as well as for paid\, private events. Their members range from college students to retirees and include skill levels from students to professional musicians.

In honor of the 54th anniversary of the moon landing\, Diana Lucas’ performance will be space themed. \nAbout Diana Lucas: \nDiana Lucas is a dramatic coloratura soprano who has sung at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. She has also sung the Star Spangled Banner at many sports stadiums and classical venues. She was a full Main Stage performer in Harold Group with The Second City\, Los Angeles\, Main Stage\, Santa Monica. She has been cast recently in the recurring role of Superior Court Judge Grace Winslow in the Nashville series Murder on Music Row. Diana lives in Huntsville\, Alabama with her husband and two children and loves singing for the museum when she is not leading tours as a docent.

Influenced by music/art his entire youth\, he has been a full-time professional musician for the last 18 years. His original songs have earned him Writers Night spots (14) at The Bluebird Café in Nashville\, TN for 4 years (before the pandemic) as well as local songwriter showcases and an opening slot for Marc Broussard at Panoply in 2019. His debut EP\, “Hold You\,” (2015) and subsequent singles are influenced by Van Morrison\, Otis Redding\, John Fogerty\, and Robert Plant. His music can be described with three words: Dynamic. Passionate. Soulful. Josh can be found performing live 4-6 days a week across North Alabama/Tennessee for venues\, corporate parties\, weddings\, and busking from time to time.

Dubbed as “Baby John [Mayer]” by legendary record producer\, Om’mas Keith\, Alex grew up playing blues guitar and has since expanded into the world of jazz and neo-soul music. Originally from Augusta\, GA\, and now living in Madison\, Taylor\, a freelance graphic designer\, has been playing music semi-professionally since 2002. He has shared the stage with Caitlin Cary (Whiskeytown)\, Paleface (The Avett Brothers)\, The Alternative Champs (HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones) and many others\, including local favorites Remy Neal\, Matt Prater\, Josh Allison\, Hunter Copeland\, Ally Free\, and the late Bobby Blount.  Founded in 2017\, The Silver Silos currently have three singles: “Daniel Day Lewis\,” “Headline News\,” and “Continental.” Taylor released his solo album Old North State in 2004. His bandmates include Jacob and Brad Greene of Athens\, AL\, and often Huntsville’s Alan Little.

He is a retired teacher from Huntsville City Schools (32 years)\, now a full-time musician. He performs regularly at Bridgestreet Town Centre\, Dragon’s Forge Cafe in Lowe Mill\, Harrison Brothers Hardware\, Freight House Restaurant in Hartselle\, and numerous other locations\, weddings\, and events. His repertoire ranges from Bach to the Beatles and Debussey to Disney! Steven is married to his lovely wife Stephanie. They have two grown children and are enjoying the empty-nest years!
