Matthew Newell and Friends\, Opera will perform from 6 – 7 p.m. \nMatthew Newell: A native of Crestview\, Florida and has recently returned to Huntsville\, Alabama with his wife\, after living in Stuttgart\, Germany for the past 3 years. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Stetson University in 2007 and a Master’s degree in Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2013 and was inducted into Delta Mu Delta\, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. \nMatthew was an elementary school music teacher for three years in Pensacola\, Florida. He has served as Music Director and Music Chairman for the Athens Ward\, Madison Stake\, and Stuttgart Germany International Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He has performed with the Pensacola Opera company\, Opera Huntsville\, the Huntsville Community Chorus Association\, the Huntsville Christmas Festival Choir\, and the Huntsville Patriotic Choir featuring the Army Materiel Command Band.

Arthurine Shackleford will perform from 6 – 7 p.m. \nArthurine Shackleford:  is an engineer who never lost her desire to express herself through the arts. Ms. Shackleford attended Alabama A. and M. University\n(AAMU) and later transferred to the University of Alabama in Huntsville\, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Industrial and Systems\nEngineering) and a Master of Science in Engineering (Industrial and Systems Engineering/Engineering Management). \nMusic is a passion for Ms. Shackleford. She sang in church choirs from the age of six. During her elementary and high school years\, she participated in school choirs\, where she was often one of the featured soloists\, and she played clarinet in the concert and marching bands. Ms. Shackleford received her classical training in voice while on music scholarship during her college years at AAMU. She has sung in several groups and choirs over the years to include the Dr. Horace Carney Chorale\, CEADS of Joy\, the Nell Lane Bradford Legacy Choir\, and the Huntsville Community Chorus. In recent years\, she released an EP of Christian music titled SING UNTO THE LORD. After hearing about several suicides of bullied young people\, Ms. Shackleford felt led to release a single she\nhad written titled Remember. Ms. Shackleford has also enjoyed performing on stage. She was a chorus member in the local production of the opera The Ballad of Baby Doe. She played\nthe roles of Jo Ann\, one of the Sweethearts\, and was part of the ensemble in a local production of Dreamgirls. Ms. Shackleford was also cast as an Emerald City Citizen and a Crow in a local production of the Wiz. Ms. Shackleford has been interested in art since childhood. She has had no formal education in art but has taken several community courses. The most impactful course was one taught by Don Howard\, a prominent artist in Huntsville\, Alabama. Ms. Shackleford has one open edition print titled May I go\, too? that is currently available at the Huntsville Revisited Museum. Ms. Shackleford regards her talents as gifts from God.  She knows that without God she can do nothing\, and He is worthy of all praise\, glory\, and honor!

They perform using all the members of the flute family – piccolo\, flute\, alto flute\, bass flute\, and contra-bass flute (the only one in Huntsville!). Their community group has been together for over 15 years now\, we’re an inclusive all volunteer organization\, and perform locally for public events as well as for paid private events. Our members range from college students to retirees and include students as well as many professional musicians.

DESCRIPTION:$5 After 5\nThursdays | 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.\nMembers: Free | Non-Members: $5\nMusic Performance 6:00-7:30 p.m. \nTwelve Persian Folk Songs Collected and Arranged for VOICE AND PIANOFORTE by Blair Fairchild performed by Golnaz Khazei\, Faraz Minooei and Reza Ahmadi \nFaraz Minooei was born in Tehran and began playing santur at the young age of nine. Faraz received his B.A. from San Francisco State University in 2008 as a Nagle Scholar and the first World/Jazz music major with santur as his primary instrument! As a full-time musician\, Faraz is a performer\, composer\, and teacher. He views studying music as a never-ending mission. In view of that\, he has also had the good fortune to study with masters such as M. R. Lotfi\, H. Omoumi\, Royal Hartigan\, Hafez Modirzadeh\, Michael Dessen\, Kojiro Umezaki and Christopher Dobrian. \nSince 2006\, he has lectured and performed at many universities including SFSU\, UCI\, UCLA\, UCSC Stanford University and at the Society of Ethnomusicology. He is the founder of Echomerz Ensemble and has performed with noted ensembles in the United States\, among which was his collaboration in 2009 with Yo Yo Ma and Kayhan Kalhor in the Silk Road Ensemble (for the 50th anniversary of the Lincoln Center) and the collaboration as a composer and santur player with the film director Bahram Beyzaie for three plays of Jana & Baladour\, Ardaviraf’s Report\, and Crossroads. Minooei is the founder and director of Bay Area Persian Music Ensemble. \nRecipient of numerous scholarships and grants\, he earned his Masters of Fine Arts degree in music with emphasis in Integrated Composition\, Improvisation\, and Technology from the University of California in Irvine. His thesis\, “Abstracting” Iranian Classical Music\, challenges the traditional practice of Iranian Classical Music to introduce innovative and transformative functions of the music in contemporary society. \n  \nGolnaz Khazei is a native of Tehran\, Iran and is a renowned percussionist specializing in the instrument of Daf. Golnaz has performed concerts and collegiate workshops\, individually and with diverse performers throughoutIran\, United State as well internationally in Armenia\, Germany\, Spain\, Italy\, Estonia\, Switzerland\, Netherlands\, Belgium. Golnaz has worked and performed with the legendary. Kurdish folk lore master\, Khalife Mirza Agha Ghosi\, Mehrdad Karim Khavari and Alireza Feyz Bashipoor.In 2020 Golnaz and Faraz Minooei collaborated and co/founded C-Sharp International\, LLC (www.csharp-int.com)  for the preservation and growth of classical Persian Music.In 2022 Golnaz and Faraz published their first Album ” BARA” (composed by Faraz Minooei). Golnaz has also performed in the following Albums:1. Bigah \, 2. Naghshe Khial \, 3. Ab Nan Avaz \, 4. Colorful Garment \, 5. Bara. \n  \nReza Ahmadi is an accomplished accompanist\, specializing in various instruments including Piano\, Organ\, Harpsichord and Cello with the Mission College Symphony in San Jose California. She was a full Main Stage performer in Harold Group with The Second City Los Angeles Main Stage Santa Monica and has been cast recently in the recurring role of Superior Court Judge Grace Winslow in the Nashville series Murder on Music Row. Diana lives in Huntsville\, Alabama with her husband and two children and loves singing for the museum when she is not a docent on tours. \nWine service has returned. Guests aged 21+ will be able to purchase a glass of wine from the Church Street Wine Shoppe for $7. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Stetson University in 2007 and a Master’s degree in Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2013. Matthew was an elementary school music teacher for three years in Pensacola\, Florida. He has served as Music Director and Music Chairman for the Athens Ward\, Madison Stake\, and Stuttgart Germany International Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He has performed with the Pensacola Opera Company\, Opera Huntsville\, the Huntsville Community Chorus Association\, the Huntsville Christmas Festival Choir\, and the Huntsville Patriotic Choir featuring the Army Materiel Command Band. \n \nSoprano Sangeetha Ekambaram’s interdisciplinary and multicultural background has offered her a unique career path\, both varied and pioneering. Her experience in the world of opera most recently includes the role of Chrysothemis in “A Look at Elektra” (sponsored by the New York Chamber Music Festival)\, Puccini the “Evolution of Ingenue” with the Metropolitan Opera Guild\, Laetitia (The Old Maid and the Thief) with Opera Huntsville\, and in the opening gala concert at the Amadeo Bassi Festival. Other roles include Mimì (La Bohème) (Festival di Ostra)\, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte)\, Antonia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann)\, Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor)\, 1st French Woman in the world premiere of Eleanor and the 1st Calaveras in Frida (The Society for New Music). About Pamina\, the CVNC Arts Journal wrote: “Soprano Sangeetha Ekambaram lacked nothing in vocal power or beauty of line in the role of Pamina. By day\, an account manager in the tech world\, Gary Smith studied clarinet with Dr. Bill Bigham and has played clarinet and saxophone in several ensembles. DESCRIPTION:June 27 \nWine 5-8 PM               \n6-7 PM:   Josh Taylor \nMembers: Free | Non-Members: $5 \nJosh Taylor is a guitarist\, composer\, and singer who cut his teeth in Nashville\, Tennessee before moving back to his hometown of Madison\, Alabama. He is an award-winning fingerstyle guitarist and took home the state champion title during the 2019 Athens Old Time Fiddlers Convention Fingerstyle Guitar Competition and was the runner-up in 2021 with plans to reclaim his title. Josh is heavily influenced by the work of guitarists such as Tommy Emmanuel\, Jerry Reed\, Chet Atkins\, and Joe Robinson\, and his time spent studying these artists has yielded a sound reminiscent of his heroes while still providing his own modern twist. Josh is a member of the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society and through his time with them has played with and for some of the best guitarists in the world\, including the aforementioned Tommy Emmanuel. Taylor’s sound covers a wide range of genres\, and he can go from country to jazz to pop to classical and even rock ‘n’ roll seamlessly (and somehow being able to do it all on one acoustic guitar!). He is also an educator and teaches privately at Colors Fine Arts Center in Huntsville\, Alabama. \nEnjoy $5 admission on Thursdays from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Huntsville Museum of Art. They perform using all members of the flute family – piccolo\, flute\, alto flute\, bass flute\, and contrabass flute (the only one in Huntsville!). This community group has been together for over 15 years. They are an inclusive\, all-volunteer organization that performs locally for public events as well as paid private events. The members range from college students to retirees and include both students and many professional musicians.

For the past few years he has been the guitar player in Huntsville based rock group Black Market Salesmen. He has worked with Grammy nominated musician/producer Joey Huffman. Shane opened for artists such as Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle and was featured in international magazines Relix and Classic Rock. In 2020 Shane got a few friends together to work on solo material and recorded his self-titled album. Since then they have been performing as the Shane Davis Group. Shane’s music has been compared to Neil Young\, Ryan Adams\, Townes Van Sandt and The Grateful Dead.
