SUMMARY:Accessible Art Works: Blind/Visually Impaired Session
DESCRIPTION:Accessible Art Works: Blind/Visually Impaired Session\nFree\nRegister for session here!\nThe Huntsville Museum of Art is excited to announce the  Accessible Art Works (AAW)\, a program developed by the Education Department in collaboration with people with disabilities. \nEach session will allow an assistant or companion to attend with the workshop participant. The Accessible Art Program gives one the opportunity to experience a docent led private tour of specific art pieces from a current exhibit\, followed by an art making session led by a trained instructor. Accessible Art Works sessions are offered on a monthly basis year round. The sessions for the Blind/Low Vision will be verbally descriptive and contain tactile components. We are pleased to offer the Accessible Art Workshop free of charge to participants and a companion thanks to a generous grant from the Lowe Foundation and a partnership with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB). \nIt is strongly recommended  that attendees pre-register for each session as they fill up quickly. Sign up online or by contacting Candace Bean\, Education Associate at cbean@hsvmuseum.org or 256-535-4350 ext. 223 to participate in the session or to learn more. The sessions meet from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Lunch is scheduled between 12:00-12:30 p.m. after each session. \nThe HMA is committed to advancing a diverse and inclusive space and community by creating and implementing accessibility initiatives. We believe art and public spaces should be accessible to all.  AAW represents an AAW-some opportunity to support this objective. \n

Larose will be playing a mix of classical holiday music including a few Nutcracker pieces and some popular vocal ballads such as Jim Croce\, James Taylor\, Tracy Chapman\, Billy Joel\, America and more. \n\n  \n  \nLarose has been teaching private and group guitar lessons for twenty years\, has earned an Associate Degree in Music Education from Calhoun Community College in 2001\, Bachelors in Classical Guitar Performance at UAH in 2005 and completed the K-12 Music Education Certificate as a double major in 2006. \nLarose is very knowledgeable​ in classical\, blues\, pop\, fingerstyle\, folk\, and rock. He has performed with many groups\, ensembles\, and solo performances. He has extensive experience playing restaurants\, churches\, corporate conferences\, wedding ceremonies\, and receptions. As an instructor\, Larose strives to tailor lessons around each students’s musical interests\, while providing a solid base in music theory and technique. He hopes to allow the students to expand their music preferences to include more advanced styles. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Learning is fun at the Huntsville Museum of Art for children ages 2-3 and their parent/guardian. Each Artsy Tots class will introduce toddlers to art and the museum through age-appropriate artful short stories\, gallery play activities\, and an art activity. The program helps with color recognition\, fine motor skills\, hand-eye coordination and more! Recommended for ages 24 months and up. There will be new themes for each class. Toddler classes last 45-minutes and are led by specially trained museum educators. \n  \nArtsy Tots classes are held on one Friday a month from 11:00-11:45 a.m.  Class size is limited to 12 children. We will paint figures of children in a way that suggests their actions without being concerned about facial features. We will look at figure proportions\, colors and application with oils and acrylics. Look through your photos for pictures of children – playing on the beach\, sitting playing with toys\, or any that would be interesting. The instructor will bring photo reference to use in the first class\, and help you choose from the photos you bring to use in the remaining classes. This is an opportunity to paint those special photos of our children and grandchildren. Space is limited to 10 students\, reserve your spot here.
