SUMMARY:$5 After 5 with Gabe Larose
DESCRIPTION:$5 After 5\nThursdays | 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.\nMembers: Free | Non-Members: $5\nEnjoy $5 admission on Thursdays from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Huntsville Museum of Art. Explore the Museum’s latest exhibitions or visit favorites from the Museum collection during this after-hours event. Wine service has returned. Guests aged 21+ will be able to purchase a glass of wine from the Church Street Wine Shoppe for $7. At 6 p.m.\, Gabe Larose will perform in the galleries. \nAbout Gabe Larose: \nGabe Larose’s latest album of original songs\, Rule of Thirds\, continues his exploration of the nexus between 70’s hard rock and singer/songwriter styles. There’s plenty of variety on this album\, but at the heart of every track is a fidelity to influences such as The Beatles\, Led Zeppelin\, America\, Fleetwood Mac\, and Kansas.\nWhen he is not working as a private guitar instructor\, Gabe Larose can be found throughout the Huntsville area\, playing shows at night and on weekends\, both solo and with his band.

SUMMARY:CLOSING DAY: Encounters: Courtney Egan
DESCRIPTION:Closing Day\nEncounters: Courtney Egan\nSunday\, September 24 | 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.\nEnjoy a last chance to view Encounters: Courtney Egan. New Orleans video artist Courtney Egan creates projection-based sculptural installations that meld nature with technology\, delivering an experience that is both pleasing and disconcerting. The ethereal projections – converging on walls\, floors and sculptural elements – are inspired by the growing frequency of human exposure to nature via computers or television. Egan creates stunning yet “subtly impossible\, hybrid tableaus” which envelope the viewer in a conversation between memory of the natural world and a new experience with a plants or flowers. She explains the fundamental irony of the experience\, stating\, “We get closer and farther away from the natural world simultaneously when we experience it through a technological lens.” Organized by HMA.
