SUMMARY:Artsy Tots: Hamburger Collage
DESCRIPTION:Artsy Tots will introduce toddlers between the ages of 2 and 3 to art and to the museum through artful short stories\, gallery play activities\, and an art activity. The program helps with color recognition\, fine motor skills\, hand-eye coordination and more! \nArtsy Tots classes are held on one Friday a month from 11:00-11:45 a.m. Class size is limited to 12 children and registration is required. Each class will have a unique theme. One adult chaperone is required for every two children. Dress for a mess! Questions? DESCRIPTION:This event is a full capacity and is no longer accepting registrations. \nGirl Scout Art Museum Day \nPicture This: Imaginative Illustrations! \nSaturday\, January 20\, 2018 \nGirl Scouts can earn art badges by participating in hands-on activities on this fun day. Learn about the visual arts while earning a Badge or Patch—Daisy: Art Museum Visit Fun Patch; Brownie: Legacy –Artist – Painting Badge; Junior: Legacy – Artist – Drawing Badge; and Cadette: Art Museum Visit Fun Patch. \nEach two-hour session includes a docent-led tour and a themed art activity program. Inspired by Norman Rockwell’s iconic images\, Girl Scouts will illustrate their own scene for a magazine cover. They will learn about proportions to complete their drawing of a person. The surrounding scene will be illustrated and come to life with watercolor crayons and pencils.  We will tour the museum’s exhibitions\, Norman Rockwell: Behind the Camera\, organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum\, Stockbridge\, Massachusetts and Secrets Behind the Wall: The Don Trachte Replicas\, organized by the National Museum of American Illustration\, Newport\, Rhode Island. Carns graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1959 as a member of its first class; from the Harvard Business School\, with Distinction\, in 1967; and from the Royal College of Defense Studies\, London\,  in 1977. He was a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force (USAF)\, serving four tours in Europe and four in the Pacific. He flew 200 combat missions in the F-4 Phantom II fighter in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War and was awarded the nation’s third highest combat decoration for valor\, the Silver Star. General Carns total flying time exceeds 6400 hours. \nWhile in the US Air Force\, General Carns served as Commander of the l3th Air Force\, Deputy Commander in Chief for the US Pacific Forces\, Director of the Joint Staff\, Joint Chiefs of Staff\, during the first Gulf War and the Panama Invasion\, and retired from the USAF after serving as Vice Chief of Staff in 1994. \nGeneral Carns has authored a number of articles and participated in numerous studies on current issues\, including such topics as the need to substantially alter the military acquisition process; undertaking a new energy strategy in the Department of Defense; the benefits of privatizing selective military logistics functions; the role of the military warfighter; the critical role of a credible US nuclear deterrent; applying energy efficiency standards to weapons system effectiveness\, and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Defense acquisition process. \nGeneral Carns and his wife\, Victoria\, have two children. Colonel Michelle C. Carns\, USAF\, is currently assigned to Doha\, Qatar; Major Marc G. Carns\, USAF\, JA\, is currently assigned to 24th US Air Force\, San Antonio\, Texas. The Carns’s reside in Pebble Beach\, California.
