Girl Scout Art Museum Day
Picture This: Imaginative Illustrations!
Saturday, January 20, 2018
Girl Scouts can earn art badges by participating in hands-on activities on this fun day. Learn about the visual arts while earning a Badge or Patch—Daisy: Art Museum Visit Fun Patch; Brownie: Legacy –Artist – Painting Badge; Junior: Legacy – Artist – Drawing Badge; and Cadette: Art Museum Visit Fun Patch.
Each two-hour session includes a docent-led tour and a themed art activity program. Inspired by Norman Rockwell’s iconic images, Girl Scouts will illustrate their own scene for a magazine cover. They will learn about proportions to complete their drawing of a person. The surrounding scene will be illustrated and come to life with watercolor crayons and pencils. We will tour the museum’s exhibitions, Norman Rockwell: Behind the Camera, organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, Massachusetts and Secrets Behind the Wall: The Don Trachte Replicas, organized by the National Museum of American Illustration, Newport, Rhode Island.
