Exhibition Submissions

The Huntsville Museum of Art’s exhibition calendar is planned years in advance and is tailored to the interests of our audiences. Our exhibitions align with the museum’s permanent collection and cover a wide range of European, American, and non-western art, leaving limited opportunities for solo or group exhibitions for contemporary artists.

The museum is unable to consider unsolicited exhibition proposals from individual artists.

The museum will consider exhibition submissions from partner institutions and galleries that meet the following criteria:

  • Artists should have national recognition consisting of solo gallery and/or museum exhibitions and critical reviews.
  • Emerging artists will be considered for an exhibition if their work is especially innovative in media or in response to social issues.

Donations of Art

The Huntsville Museum of Art considers donations of significant works that advance the museum’s collection.

If you wish to donate a work of art to the museum, please email the Chief Curator and include the following information:

  • Artist name and birth/death dates
  • Title and date of the artwork
  • Technique or materials used
  • Dimensions
  • Ownership history
  • High-resolution images of the artwork, if possible, from the front and the back. (Images taken with a smartphone are acceptable)
  • Your full contact information

Art donations go through an extensive evaluation process and are considered by the Collections Committee on a quarterly basis. A representative of the museum will contact you to follow up on the status of your proposed gift.
