Huntsville, Ala. – The Huntsville Museum of Art (HMA) values our federal workers and in an effort to assist those who have been furloughed during the current government shutdown are offering free Museum admission.
“We know many of our community members are dealing with hardships stemming from the government shutdown and we want to offer those people a relaxing and calm activity,” said HMA Executive Director Christopher J. Madkour.
Community members who are employed by the federal government, but are currently furloughed, may visit the Museum Tuesday through Friday between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To receive the free admission, guests must show their driver’s license, proof of employment by the federal government and proof of their furlough status to the Guest Services personnel. This offer will be valid for the remainder of the furlough and may only be used during the time frame indicated. This offer is not valid on weekends, during Museum events or during $5 After 5p Thursdays.
Madkour continued, “Research has proven that a trip to an art museum can positively impact your health and well-being in several essential ways, like lowering anxiety and depression and boosting critical thinking skills. We hope that furloughed workers are able to enjoy HMA as a resource during this time.”
