The Huntsville Museum of Art and the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library have partnered for the opening of the new exhibit, Gloria Vanderbilt: An Artful Life.
The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library released a blog post on Oct. 29 containing a list of curated books to read alongside the exhibit. The reading list includes biographies of Gloria Vanderbilt and the Vanderbilt family, fiction novels centered around family or the Gilded Age, and nonfiction books about the Gilded Age. The blog post allows for visitors to see the availability of each book at the different branches of the library. The list also includes e-books and audiobooks for on-the-go reading.

The Huntsville Museum of Art thanks the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library for spreading the word about such a special exhibition. Gloria’s creative legacy will stand the test of time and her support and contribution of the Huntsville Museum of Art will forever be remembered.
Gloria Vanderbilt and Wendy Goodman, author of The World of Gloria Vanderbilt, accepted an invitation from a longtime friend, Executive Director Christopher Madkour, to be the guest speakers at the Museum’s annual GALA Luncheon and Voices of Our Times event in 2012. During their visit to Huntsville, Gloria and Wendy were presented with a Key to the City by Mayor Tommy Battle, who extended an open invitation to return any time. Gloria’s stay in Huntsville was so memorable that she went on to host a fundraiser in New York for the Museum.
The Museum recognizes the value of the exhibit, “Gloria Vanderbilt: An Artful Life,” to the Huntsville community. Partnering with local businesses and establishments to feature the exclusive exhibition furthers Gloria’s impact on the city.
