Closing Day
Imitation of Life: Contemporary Approaches to Realism
Sunday, January 16 | 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Enjoy a last chance to view Imitation of Life: Contemporary Approaches to Realism. Imitation of Life presents a selection of contemporary artworks from the Museum’s permanent collection that illustrate a variety of approaches to depicting the real world. Works range from precise interpretations to more fluid and suggestive takes on portraying a person, place or thing. Highlights include photorealist paintings by David Parrish and Jared Small; trompe l’oeil works by Ed Ruscha and Jim Jobe; a pixilated portrait by Chuck Close, an expressionistically rendered landscape by Lilian Garcia-Roig, and an evocative mixed media assemblage by Larry Walker, among others. Organized by HMA.
