Huntsville, Ala. – The Huntsville Museum of Art’s (HMA) Gala Committee is excited to present the 28th Annual Gala Week beginning with an already sold-out Gala Luncheon featuring guest speaker, Trace Barnett of The Bitter Socialite, on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, followed by another sold-out Black Tie Dinner & Live Auction on Thursday, February 28.  The final event in the week-long Gala celebration is the annual Gala Cocktail Party & Silent Auction on Saturday, March 2 – tickets to this event are now available to the public.

Considered to be one of Huntsville’s premier events, the Huntsville Museum of Art’s Annual Gala is a tangible force aiding the Museum in its effort to bring people and art together in our community. The Gala Committee has lent well over $5 million in support of the Museum throughout its 28 year history!

“The HMA Gala Cocktail Party & Silent Auction is the only event offering you the chance to dance the night away inside museum galleries surrounded by exquisite fine art swaying to the live music of Atlanta band, Shimmer, while enjoying delicious delectables by Chef Narvell,” said Tabby Ragland, Gala Co-Chair.

The three Gala events are tied together by the month-long Gala Art Exhibition on display now through March 2.  This year’s featured artist in the exhibition is Karen Weihs of Highlands, NC.  Using mostly palette knives and particular brushes, Weihs applies pigment in lush impasto layers interspersed with thin glazes that enrich colors and result in canvases that glow with mysterious light and form.

Ragland continued, “Our Cocktail Party & Silent Auction is the perfect opportunity for those who are looking to expand or begin their own art collections.  We strive to present a variety of different types of artworks that are also in a range of price points so that everyone has the opportunity to find something that speaks to them.”

In addition to the stunning artwork by Weihs, the Gala Art Exhibition and the auctions include artwork donated by other national and regional artists, extravagant trips and beautiful treasures.  The auctions will only be open to ticket holders and the last remaining event with available tickets is the Gala Cocktail Party & Silent Auction.

A final component to Gala is the Luxury Car Chance sponsored by Century Automotive.  Each year, Century provides a luxury vehicle that one lucky winner can drive for a year.  This year’s winner will have the option between a new 2019 Jaguar F-Pace or F-Type.  Limited tickets remain and are 1 for $100 or 2 for $150 and can be purchased by contacting the Museum at 256.535.4350 or visiting Century Automotive located at 3800 University Drive in Huntsville.  The Luxury Car Chance winner will be announced at the Cocktail Party.

Tickets to the Cocktail Party are $150 per person and include complimentary cocktails and valet parking. All proceeds benefit the Huntsville Museum of Art.  Tickets and information regarding all Gala events and the Gala Art Exhibition can be found at hsvmuseum.org.
