Huntsville, Ala – The Huntsville Museum of Art is pleased to present the Huntsville Photographic Society: 2014 Members’ Showcase, which opens today, Tuesday, March 4, in the Prozan Community Gallery. The FREE exhibition will present a juried selection of 50 photographs, black and white and color as well as a range of subjects and styles, taken by 30 members of the Huntsville Photographic Society (HPS). It will remain on view through August 3, 2014.

“If you’ve heard critics question whether photography is truly a fine art form,” Peter J. Baldaia, Museum Director of Curatorial Affairs, said, “then you need only visit this exhibit to understand that it is. We are truly fortunate to have such talented artists producing extremely high-quality art photography right here in Huntsville.”

HPS will sponsor and host a free opening reception on Sunday, March 16, at 2 p.m. in the Museum’s Loretta Spencer Hall. HPS is an organization dedicated to promoting the art and science of photography in Huntsville and the surrounding area through informative programs, member contests and special events. The HPS Members’ Showcase is a recurring exhibition jointly organized by HPS and the Museum.
