Youth Art Month
March 8 – March 29, 2026
On view in Adran, Jurenko, Thurber & Guild Galleries
Overview
Each March, Youth Art Month is celebrated nationwide to recognize the importance of quality art education in schools and to highlight the creative achievements of young artists. In Huntsville, the Huntsville Museum of Art proudly hosts this annual event through its Museum Academy, affirming its commitment to arts education and youth development.
Now in its 39th year, Youth Art Month 2026 will showcase nearly 200 vibrant works of art created by students in kindergarten through grade 12 from school districts across North Alabama, including Huntsville City, Madison City, Madison County, Athens City, Limestone County, Decatur City, and Scottsboro City.
Complementing this year’s student exhibition is a special display:
- The Congressional Art Competition
The top high school submission from the 5th Congressional District, selected through the Congressional Art Competition, will travel to Washington, D.C. for a yearlong display in the U.S. Capitol. There are honorable mentions in each of the categories of painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, printmaking, photography and computer-generated art.
Join us in celebrating the imagination, skill, and dedication of North Alabama’s young artists and educators. The Youth Art Month 2026 opening celebration will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
