Happy wedding week to Alexis and Matt! As part of our countdown to their wedding reception this weekend, we are sharing their story.

The first spark:

How did you meet?

Matt and Alexis met through mutual friends while Alexis was in pharmacy school. They began dating, which turned into a long distance relationship after she finished school.

The adventure begins:

How did the proposal happen?

The couple were at the beach in 30A. They were going to recreate their sunset selfie from the year before and then watch the sunset. Matt surprised Alexis by proposing on the beach. Alexis’ parents got engaged on the same beaches 33 years ago, so it was a very special moment for her.

Plans are made:

Why did you choose the Huntsville Museum of Art for your wedding event?

Matt is not from Huntsville, so some of wedding guests will be traveling from out of town. Because of this, the couple knew they wanted a venue that is within walking distance of their church and hotels, which are all downtown. They chose the Huntsville Museum of Art because of its location, but also because it had everything else they were looking for. They are glad to have enough space indoors for their guests to escape the July heat while still enjoying a stunning view of Big Spring Park. They also love the idea of their guests touring the galleries during cocktail hour.

A moment to last a lifetime:

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

Alexis is excited for the entire weekend of her wedding. She is Greek, so she has a lot of family. She and Matt intentionally planned multiple parties over the course of the weekend in order to spend as much time with everyone as possible. She is most looking forward to having all of her friends and family together in one place.
