Happy wedding week to Clay and Hannah! Hannah and her family are very special to us at the Museum, so we are excited to celebrate with her. As part of our countdown to their special day this weekend, we are sharing their story.

The first spark:

How did you meet?

Hannah and Clay met in the main building of their student organization at the University of Alabama. Clay was lying on a couch when Hannah walked down the hall. She introduced herself by saying, “You must be the new guy.” Clay also introduced himself and asked how her day was going. Hannah talked about her summer session of philosophy, which sparked a debate, and they did had very different opinions of the topic. They argued vigorously for a few hours and then parted ways. Hannah concluded that she didn’t like “the new guy,” since their first meeting resulted in an argument, but they have been in love ever since!

The adventure begins:

How did the proposal happen?

Clay proposed to Hannah in the same parking lot where they had their first kiss. In the months before the proposal, Hannah was frantically studying for the GRE. Unbeknownst to her, the week she she took the test, Clay drove to Huntsville to ask her parents for her hand in marriage. After Hannah took the test, she met her best friend to relax and unwind while getting her nails done. Meanwhile, Clay was setting up the proposal. He arranged 100 candles in a heart at their parking spot, and when Hannah pulled into the lot, he popped the question.

Plans are made:

Why did you choose the Huntsville Museum of Art for your wedding event?

HMA has had a special place in Hannah’s heart for a very long time. Her mom has worked there for many years and Hannah worked there in high school, setting up and taking down weddings. When it was time for Hannah to get married, the obvious venue was the one she grew up in.

A moment to last a lifetime:

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

The couple are excited about bringing all of their families together. Clay is originally from California, so having his friends and family meet and celebrate with Hannah’s is very special.
