Huntsville Museum of Art Celebrates
Youth Art Month with 38th Annual YAM Exhibition
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Huntsville Museum of Art (HMA) is excited to announce the 38th annual Youth Art Month (YAM) exhibition, celebrating the creativity of young artists from North Alabama. The exhibition will showcase nearly 200 works of art created by students from kindergarten through grade 12 from various area schools. YAM 2025: Exhibition for Youth Art Month will be on display from February 23 to February 27, 2025.
In addition to the YAM exhibition, the museum will feature three other special showcases on Sunday, February 23: the Juried Art Teachers’ Biennial, the Congressional Art Competition and the VAA: Visual Arts Achievement Program District V Blue Ribbon Finalists exhibitions.
HMA invites the community to join in celebrating North Alabama’s young artists alongside special guests, including Mayor Tommy Battle, Congressman Dale Strong, and Kaci Norman, Arts in Education Program Manager with the Alabama State Council on the Arts. To mark the occasion, admission will be free for all visitors on Sunday, February 23, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Award presentations for the VAA Blue Ribbon Finalists and the Congressional Art Competition will take place at 2 p.m. in the Great Hall. Visitors can also enjoy live artist demonstrations from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., where artists will showcase different techniques in their chosen mediums.
“We are thrilled to feature the incredible work of these talented young artists,” said HMA Education Director Laura Smith. “This exhibition is not just about showcasing their creativity but also about highlighting the importance of art education and giving kids a platform to express themselves.”
Youth Art Month is a national observance celebrated each March to emphasize the importance of art education and encourage public support for strong school art programs. The YAM 2025 exhibition is supported by The National Art Education Association, Alabama Art Education Association, Alabama Arts Alliance, Alabama State Department of Education, and the Huntsville-Madison County Art Education Association.
