Original art prints

Parakata Ponderosa by Carlos Villez is one of the first pieces you see when you enter our galleries to view The World of Frida. Did you know you can purchase a print of the work for yourself, signed by the artist? There is no better souvenir from an exhibition than a piece that is actually on display. These prints are limited edition, so get one at the Museum Store while you still can!

The Museum Store also has a few different posters by Betsy Gorman, another one of the artists featured in the exhibition. These designs are fun and colorful additions to your home. Both also come in the form of a greeting card to send to the Frida fan in your life.

Books for all ages

Learn about the fascinating life of Frida Kahlo in these books from the Museum Store. Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up gives readers a unique window into Kahlo’s life. It focuses on the personal, combining her prosthetics, jewelry, and clothes with self-portraits, diary entries, and letters to build an intimate portrait of the artist through her possessions. Frida A to Z: The Life of an Icon From Activism to Zapotec is an intricately illustrated and fastidiously-researched book that unpacks the life of Frida Kahlo in an A to Z format. It looks at the life, art, collaborations, friendships, politics, beauty and agony surrounding one of the 20th Century’s most distinctive and important artistic voices.

There are many books to choose from for younger readers as well. Frida Kahlo: The Artist in the Blue House introduces children to the themes of Kahlo’s paintings while demonstrating how her life influenced her art. Through illustrations of her work and photographs of Kahlo and her family, children are encouraged to learn about her life, artworks, and important relationships. Frida Kahlo and Her Animalitos is based on the life Frida and the animals that inspired her art. This story recounts Frida’s beloved pets—two monkeys, a parrot, three dogs, two turkeys, an eagle, a black cat, and a fawn—and playfully considers how Frida embodied many wonderful characteristics of each animal.

Show off your personality and interests in other ways with a Frida face mask. These embroidered masks are fair trade and made by women artisans. Also embroidered, these bibs come in four different colors and are perfect for the bebé in your life.
