The Huntsville Museum of Art offers dynamic educational galleries and interactive experiences that make art accessible and enjoyable for visitors of all ages.

Stender Family Interactive Education Galleries
Our Stender Family Interactive Education Galleries provide a welcoming space for children and adults to begin a lifelong journey with the visual arts. These galleries include the ART LAB and A Walk Through Time, both hands-on, immersive spaces that are included with general admission.

In A Walk Through Time, visitors embark on an interactive journey through major events in art history. Beginning in a realistic cave featuring early Paleolithic drawings, guests pass through ancient cultures such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece, finally arriving in the modern era. Each section is filled with replicas of iconic sculptures, statues, and architectural elements, as well as two-dimensional art and selected original works from the Museum’s collection, creating an engaging, interactive timeline of art history.

Children’s Community Gallery
Located on the ground floor, the Children’s Community Gallery celebrates the creativity of our youngest artists. This gallery showcases a rotating selection of artwork by students from local schools, offering a unique opportunity to support and celebrate student achievements while fostering a love for art from an early age.

In addition to these dedicated spaces, the museum enhances engagement throughout the permanent collection galleries. QR codes and guide-by-cell features link to artist talks, performances, demonstrations, and videos, allowing visitors to deepen their understanding of the works on view. Scavenger hunts and gallery guides, available at the front desk, also encourage visitors to connect with the artworks in meaningful ways. These educational elements make each visit to the Huntsville Museum of Art a rich, exploratory experience for all ages.
