This important fundraiser presents approximately 150 artworks in a range of media and styles, to be auctioned to the highest bidder during the annual Gala events. The Gala Featured Artist for 2022 is Deborah R. Hill. Organized by HMA.
Deborah R. Hill is a classically trained painter, having earned a BFA with a concentration in painting. She divides her time between upstate NY and Charleston, SC, where she has studios at both of her residencies. Through her art, she conveys a sense of familiarity via the subject matter, utilizing the interjection of abstract elements through color, brushwork, and paint application. She finds inspiration in the depth of color and form in the natural world, though she is equally inspired in the studio setting. Painting is her passion and she enjoys capturing the true beauty and essence of her surroundings.
The Crossroads Series is an ongoing body of work that addresses the subject of mobility, that which is accessible, inaccessible, and the divisions or challenges that can arise. The series explores the idea that mobility is not limited to physical action. Rather, it can be a “state of mind” ruled by circumstances. “I utilize the horse as one of the first means that allowed humans mobility.”
