Huntsville, Ala. – The Huntsville Museum of Art’s (HMA) Gala Committee is excited to present the 27th Annual Gala Week beginning with a sold-out Gala Luncheon featuring guest speaker, Bettie Bearden Pardee, on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Mrs. Pardee’s presentation is titled, Entertaining, Newport Style: When Grace Kelly was a Guest!

Bettie is a year-round resident of Newport, Rhode Island with her husband Jonathan. She has authored two books about Newport, Private Newport: At Home and in the Garden; and Living Newport: Houses, People, Style. She is also an editor of PrivateNewport.com, as well as a garden furniture designer, national lecturer and authority on entertaining.

“I’m so looking forward to returning to my Southern roots and sharing beautiful Newport with each of you,” commented Mrs. Pardee.

Bettie was recognized as an honoree for the second year on “The Salonniere 100: America’s Best Party Hosts,” and also served as the host and creative producer of the thirteen-part PBS series The Presidential Palate: Entertaining at the White House.

“Gala is the largest fundraiser for the Museum and it is truly an honor to have Bettie as our special guest for this year’s Gala Luncheon,” said Huntsville Museum of Art Executive Director, Christopher J. Madkour. “Growing up in New England, I have always had a special affection for Newport, and I know that Bettie’s creative and charismatic spirit will make her presentation one that our guests will reminisce about for years to come!”

“We are honored to extend a warm Southern welcome to Mrs. Pardee,” commented Gala Luncheon Co-Chair, Beth McGee. “What a privilege it will be to hear firsthand accounts of her famous entertaining style and design. We invite you to join us for a delightful morning filled with delicious food, friends, and of course the charming Mrs. Bettie Bearden Pardee.”
