We welcome groups to experience Docent-led tours at the Huntsville Museum of Art! Participating in a guided tour can make a lasting impression on any group, whether adult or student, and will aid visitors with understanding the artworks in an exhibit on a more complete level.

 

Docent-Led Public Tours

Enjoy a deeper look at current exhibits with Docent-led public tours. Docents enhance the experience of visitors by sharing their extensive knowledge about each exhibition. Tours are included with general admission and free for Members.

The tour fee is waived for teachers and/or chaperones for every 10 students in the group. $5 per additional adult.

Accessible Art Works (AAW) Program:

The Huntsville Museum of Art is committed to advancing an inclusive space and community by creating and implementing accessibility initiatives through the Accessible Art Works (AAW) program. We believe art and public spaces should be accessible to all individuals of all abilities. We are pleased to offer the Accessible Art Works free of charge to participants and a companion, thanks to a generous grant from the Lowe Foundation and a partnership with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB).

Tours & Workshops for Blind/Low Vision:

Join a trained Museum Docent once a month for a tour of exhibitions currently on display at the Museum and an art session. Sessions for those with vision impairment, low vision or blindness will be verbally descriptive and contain tactile components. Students of ASL are welcome to this event.

ASL Sign Language Tours & Workshops for Deaf/Hard of Hearing:

Join a trained Museum Docent and an American Sign Language (ASL) Qualified Interpreter once a month for a tour of exhibitions currently on display at the Museum. Students of ASL are welcome to this event.
