Art & Design: An Exploration of Color & Light with Julie Gill
Friday, November 30, 2018
8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Join us for this unique teacher professional development workshop opportunity! A celebration of beauty, Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection exhibition features more than 60 objects, spanning over 30 years of Tiffany’s prolific career. One of America’s most renowned artists, Louis Comfort Tiffany worked in nearly all the media available to artists and designers in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries—glass, ceramic, metalwork, jewelry and painting. Tiffany’s technical brilliance in a wide variety of media enabled him to convey his awe of the natural world through a range of objects, from common household items to one-of-a-kind masterpieces.
Julie Gill, stained glass artist at Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment Center, designs, cuts, assembles, delivers and installs custom doors, windows and installations to clients all across the Tennessee Valley. Gill will lead teachers through a stained glass demonstration and hands-on glass creations. Artist Website: http://www.lowemill.net/portfolio-item/julie-gill-stained-glass-railroad-car-4b/. Teachers will have the opportunity to participate in docent-led tours of the Tiffany exhibition. The workshop will conclude with interactive classroom art lessons.
