Huntsville, Ala. – The Huntsville Museum of Art (HMA) has announced the addition of Dr. Archie Tucker II as the newest member of the Huntsville Museum of Art Board of Directors. This appointment filled a vacancy left by former HMA Board of Directors member, Herman Stubbs, who served on the board since 2008.
“Herman Stubbs served the Museum well for 12 years during the Museum’s expansive Capital Campaign and we thank him for his leadership and for his years of service,” stated David Nast, Chairman of the HMA Board of Directors. “We are excited to have Archie Tucker join the Museum Board of Directors and continue his service to our community at the Museum.”
Dr. Tucker was appointed by the Huntsville City Council and began his post on November 28, 2018 where he was introduced at the HMA monthly board meeting.
Dr. Tucker is the Vice President for Marketing, Communication & Advancement at Alabama A&M University. In this role, he is responsible for the University’s fundraising, alumni relations, marketing and communications, radio and television stations, and print/mail operations. He is currently partnering with HMA as a member of the African American History Month Committee.
“I am honored to have been appointed to this role and look forward to contributing to the growth and success of the Huntsville Museum of Art as a member of the Board of Directors,” said Archie Tucker. “The Museum plays an important role in the community and I am pleased to join the other board members in their efforts.”
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi. He then obtained a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in management from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. Afterwards, he completed his Doctorate of Higher Education Degree at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi.
“We are all very grateful for the time and energy that Herman invested into the Museum these last 12 years and know he will be actively involved in other areas of the Museum moving forward,” said Christopher J. Madkour, HMA Executive Director. “We are now both excited and privileged to have Dr. Tucker join us as a member of the Board of Directors. We know that his talent and knowledge will serve us well as we continue to work to move Huntsville and our Museum forward.”
Dr. Tucker and his wife, Veronica, are active members of the community. He is currently a board member for the National Children’s Advocacy Center, and Urban League of Alabama. He is also a graduate from both Leadership Focus and Connect classes.
Professionally, he is a past board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), North Alabama Chapter, where he served as treasurer. AFP is the premier fundraising professional development organization internationally. Archie is also a former board member of the Council for Advancement of Education’s Southeast Region. CASE is also an international organization, and it is the leading professional development association for fundraising, marketing and communications, and alumni relations professionals in education.
