Huntsville, Ala – The Huntsville Museum of Art (HMA) invites families to drop by once a month, beginning Saturday, June 18, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to participate in a FREE* hands-on art activity. Additional Drop-in and CREATE Saturdays will be held at the same time July 16, August 20, and September 17 in HMA’s Stender Family Interactive Galleries.

During the Drop-in and CREATE event JUNE 18 titled Rockin’ Rockets, children will create a starspangled rocket using paper, ribbon, and stickers.

The theme of JULY’s activity (July 16) is FUN in the Sun! Families will have a chance to explore the exhibitions in the galleries and then create their own summer scene using printmaking techniques and drawing.

On Saturday, AUGUST 20, the Drop-in and CREATE theme is Imaginary Inkblot Creatures. Participants will transform a blob of ink into a one-of-a-kind animal, monster or alien.

Fabulous Fall Trees is the theme of SEPTEMBER’s event (Sept. 17), during which children will create their own fall trees using art tissue papers and other elements.

Drop-In and CREATE Saturdays are proudly supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, The Daniel Foundation, and Joyce Griffin. For more information, visit www.hsvmuseum.org or call 256-535-4350.

*On June 18, participants who wish to view the galleries to include Folk Couture: Fashion and Folk Art must pay admission.
