Exhibition Tour of Encounters: John Cleaveland
Our docents are leading a tour for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing through our Accessible Art Works program. The private tour is Wednesday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sessions fill up quickly, so it is strongly recommended that attendees pre-register for each session. Sign up online at the button below or by contacting Audrey Creel, the Docent/Tour Programs Coordinator at acreel@hsvmuseum.org or 256-535-4350 ext. 223.
The Accessible Art Works program provides a private, docent-led tour of specific art pieces from a current exhibition, followed by an art-making session led by a trained instructor. Accessible Art Works sessions are offered on a monthly basis. The sessions for the Blind/Low Vision will be verbally descriptive and contain tactile components. The Deaf/Hard of Hearing session will have an ASL Qualified Interpreter. We are pleased to offer the Accessible Art Workshop free of charge to participants and a companion, thanks to a generous grant from the Lowe Foundation and a partnership with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB).
HMA is committed to advancing a diverse and inclusive space and community by creating and implementing accessibility initiatives. We believe art and public spaces should be accessible to all.
