Want to paint more vibrant portraits? Ann Moeller Steverson will teach you how to create beautiful soft skin tones with a rainbow of natural colors. By enhancing your observational skills and noticing subtleties, you will explore how ambient light affects objects and color. You will learn how to observe the planes of the head, set up attractive and effective lighting, create excellent reference images, and mix paint for more natural-looking colors. Learning these techniques will help your subject matter glow, feel alive and significantly improve your skin tones.
Ann Moeller Steverson has over 16 years of experience as an art instructor sharing her love of art with students of all ages. Born in Madison, Alabama, in 1980, Ann began painting in oils at the University of Montevallo in 1999. She graduated in 2002 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, completing a B.A. with a Fine Arts Concentration. Ann then acquired a Master of Art Education from Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama.
Ann has been awarded the honor of the Bold Brush Award, a distinction an artist may achieve only once in their lifetime. She has been featured in several Oil Painters of America exhibits and awarded by the National Acrylic and Oil Painters Society and Portrait Society of America. She has recently been selected as a finalist in the Art Renewal Center.
Ann is the inventor and founder of Venus Copper Panels, an innovative new fine art painting surface; now known as Artefex Copper Panels. She is co-founder of Protégé Atelier, which brings master artist workshops to Huntsville, Alabama. Moeller Steverson is an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Athens State University, and Calhoun Community College. Steverson – “I hope my art can be a conduit of healing in our world. Sensing the beauty in the world around me has always called me to create. My oil paintings have become expressions of humanity, femininity, and intense moods. I reach into my whole heart and share the best of everything I see, therefore offering my most authentic self. Approaching oil painting as an intuitive meditation becomes like a dance. The fluidity and malleability of the paint align with the openness I feel as I work. I have begun to paint with more abstraction, in combination with realism, searching for marriage and balance between the two.”
