Huntsville, Ala – Don’t miss this snapshot of Huntsville’s most talented photographers at the Huntsville Museum of Art (HMA). The Huntsville Photographic Society (HPS) Members’ Showcase is an annual, juried exhibition of photographs taken by the HPS members. This year’s exhibition, to open May 15, includes 50 photographs, both color and black and white, which range in subjects and styles. The exhibition will be on view through August 21, 2016.
The Museum invites the public to join artists for a GALLERY WALK Thursday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the Women’s Guild Gallery. The society and the Museum will jointly host a reception following the program in the Richard and Roper Room. The event is FREE for Museum members and included in general admission for non-members. Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m., admission is $5 for non
members, as part of the Museum’s $5 After FIVE program.
Founded in 1964, the HPS is an organization dedicated to promoting the art and science of photography in Huntsville and the surrounding area through informative programs, member contests, and special events. The exhibition is organized by the HPS and the HMA.
Museum admission is FREE for members and children 5 and under. In conjunction with the current major exhibition Folk Couture: Fashion and Folk Art, non-member admission is currently $12 for adults; $10 for military, teachers, and seniors with a valid ID; $5 for children ages 6 and up and students; and $8 per person for groups of 10 or more. Thursday’s admission from 5 to 8 p.m. is $5 After Five. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 12 to 5 p.m. The museum is closed to the public on Mondays (administrative offices are OPEN) and some major holidays.
