2024 VAAP: Visual Arts Achievement Program
Huntsville, Ala. – On behalf of The Alabama State Council of the Arts, the Huntsville Museum of Art hosted this regional competition for District V. There are 19 North Alabama counties that were invited to participate in this competition.
The Visual Arts Achievement Program provides an opportunity for talented middle and high school students in Alabama to receive local and state recognition for their achievements in visual arts. The program is designed to showcase the quality art of middle and high school students enrolled in public and private schools throughout the state.
Since the competition was conducted locally, all artwork was delivered here at the museum. A panel of three judges an art professor representing the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Alabama A&M University and an art educator/fine artist juried 313 pieces of artwork. A total of 15 pieces were then selected to be the Blue Ribbon Finalists. The artwork of the 15 Blue Ribbon Finalists will be on display here at the museum on Sunday, February 25. Then, the works selected at the district level will be exhibited in the Georgine Clarke Alabama Artists Gallery of the Alabama State Council on the Arts April 1-26. Awards and recognition ceremonies will be held on April 11 in Montgomery.
