Huntsville, Ala – The Huntsville Museum of Art will offer a Master Artist Workshop with Robert K. Carsten titled Capturing Light, Color and Atmosphere in Pastel August 18-21, 2016. The class, designed for all skill levels, will be held in one of the Museum Academy classrooms overlooking Big Spring Park.

The southern, summer landscape is frequently used to express luminosity and atmospheric perspective. Carsten, an award-winning, nationally-acclaimed, master pastelist, will demonstrate a range of styles from realism to impressionism to expressionism, while also exploring composition, light effect, and color in pastels. Students are asked to bring their favorite landscape photos.

Carsten attended the Art Students League of New York, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Accademia di Belle Arti (Italy). He is a master pastelist and signature member of the Pastel Society of America, master circle artist in the International Association of Pastel Societies, Lifetime Honorary Member of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society, and signature member of the Connecticut Pastel Society. Carsten is also a contributing writer in The Pastel Journal and The Artist’s Magazine. His paintings have been shown in many museums and galleries and are collected worldwide. His work has been featured in Pure Color/The Best of Pastel, The Pastel Journal, American Art Review, The Artist’s Magazine, Strokes of Genius/The Best of Drawing, and Finding Your Style in Pastel.
