The Purpose: promoting awareness, appreciation, and knowledge
The Guild’s purpose is to promote awareness, appreciation, and knowledge of the visual arts. To that end, the Guild’s promotes education, supports exhibitions, and helps fund acquisitions of art for the Huntsville Museum of Art, building appreciation for the vast richness of artistic expression among its members and the community.
The Mission: providing fundraising, volunteerism, and education
The dynamic members of the Guild support and promote the Museum as the center for cultural arts throughout greater Huntsville by fundraising, volunteerism, and education.
The Vision: building a better community
The work and dedication of the Guild support the Museum to achieve its full potential as North Alabama’s leading visual arts center by bringing people and art together for the betterment of our community.
The Guild, formed in 1964, established the groundwork for a museum of art in Huntsville. Since its inception, the Guild has provided nearly $3 million in direct funding to the Museum. Funds raised at the 50th Anniversary Celebration enabled the Guild to commission a one-of-a-kind mixed media chandelier by renowned artist Ginny Ruffner which is part of the Museum’s permanent collection. This outstanding, suspended, and illuminated sculpture can be viewed in the Richard & Roper gallery.
